Mini Makers: Inventing & Making (ages 5-7)

We start the day by thinking about what inventions are and how inventions solve problems. Then, using a given theme, children investigate problems and then brainstorm solutions, before they come up with their own inventions in groups.

In the afternoon session, we take part in making challenges using basic materials to focus on creativity.

By the end of the day, students will understand the purpose of inventions and how the design thinking process can be used to create an invention. They will have designed and presented their own invention which can be shared with parents through photos and videos where permission is given.

As always at Inventors & Makers classes, the learning will focus on promoting problem solving, creativity and collaboration, while children take part in engaging activities. We build in plenty of breaks and fun games to keep children focussed.

Our classes have an informal and relaxed environment and are limited to a small number of children to maximise teacher support. Our Mini Maker classes have smaller class sizes than our classes for 8-11 year olds. After each class, parents receive detailed feedback on their child's participation, including photos where appropriate.

All equipment is provided for the class price.

*While some of the content of this class is similar to the class during May half-term, your child may like to attend again to come up with new creations. Alternatively there is a second class for ages 5-7 later in the summer.
