Inventing & App Making (ages 8-11)

Children start by coming up with their own innovative ideas for an app, working collaboratively in small groups. They then design and build their own clickable prototype of this app using child friendly software and without having to code. In doing so, they think about design and user experience and user test the app to improve their designs.

By the end of the two days, children will have come up with their own idea for an app to solve a problem. They will have learnt about the ideas of user experience and app interfaces as they design and draw each screen of their app on paper. They will also structure the flow and structure of their app and conduct user testing, using online software. The basic app that they come up with can be shared online for parents to see after the class.

This two-day class is takes children through the process of designing and building an app and mirrors many of the stages that actual app developers go through at a basic level only.

As always at Inventors & Makers classes, the learning will focus on promoting problem solving, creativity and collaboration, while children take part in engaging activities.

Our classes have an informal and relaxed environment and are limited to a small number of children to maximise teacher support. After each class, parents receive detailed feedback on their child's participation, including photos where appropriate.

All equipment and technology is provided for the class price.

*If your child has attended our one-day App Making class, they will already have an understanding of some of the skills in this two-day course. However we will be building new more complex apps this time round and so this class will still be suitable for them to attend.
